Free Activity Download
You guys. I LOVE this baby shower game/activity/whatever you want to call it! They did this at my shower and I just had to read them before I tucked them away in a plastic container for Bdubs' 18th birthday. I laughed. I cried. It was awesome. Contact us for the blue or purple version.
The Necessities
Combine yellow, pink, white, gray and clear accessories for a fun and inviting look. Less is more in the decor department. A banner, a cluster of balloons, pinwheels or poms and creative food/drink displays will go a long way. My favorite way to decorate for a shower is to use items off their registry as decor. Hang onesies using string and clothespins. Create a fun display with bath toys/accessories. Gifting some cute nursery decor? Use it as a baby shower decoration! My mom was the queen of doing this for both my bridal and baby showers (see pictures below).
Check out some of our party picks from Amazon by clicking the images below (affil.). We love the "You Are My Sunshine" journal for a guest-book, advice book or to simply record gifts in and let the mama-to-be use in the future!
The Food
Whether you decide to cater it in or do it yourself, plan for easy-to-eat finger food that people can go back to throughout the party to keep things moving and laid back. Lunds and Byerlys has amazing food options and the displays are on point. All you have to do with this beautiful and delicious food is just set it out.
If you want to do it yourself, be sure to plan foods that you can make/prep ahead and minimize the amount of work you need to do in the kitchen the day of. Combine store bought items with semi-homemade items to make it easy on yourself. Some ideas...
Mimosa/Momosa Bar
Set out a variety of juices, fresh fruit and mixers. For some cute mimosa bar inspiration, checkout Unoriginal Mom. Don't forget some non-alcoholic ginger beer for an added bubbly for the mama-to-be!
Something Sweet
Skip the formal cake and set out a variety of sweet treats in a dessert bar! From chocolate covered strawberries, to individual tartlets, cake bites, cookies and donuts - the possibilities are endless! Looking to make killer cupcakes or mini cakes? Use the batter of our favorite Carrot Cake Recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction!
Charcuterie Board
Because everyone loves meat and cheese. Here's everything you need to know about building a first-class charcuterie board from Food and Wine.
Eat Your Vegetables
Most moms-to-be (and women in general in that baby-making age range) are trying to eat healthy most of the time and that means lots of veggies! But how boring is the standard veggie tray? The carrots and tomatoes get eaten and the raw broccoli and cauliflower sit out and go bad. Spruce things up with a cold roasted vegetable platter with an herbed yogurt dipping sauce. Not sure how to do that? Try this recipe from Ree Drummond of the Food Network.
Whatever Mom-to-Be is Craving!
Ask your soon-to-be-mama what she's been craving lately! You could design an entire spread around her cravings or just include a couple of them that you think most people might enjoy as well. Whether it's bagels and cream cheese, finger sandwiches, pickles and chips - a personal touch letting the person of honor know you've got them can go a long way!
