What is balance?
I laugh a little when people ask me how I do it all-- juggle family, fitness, and my business.
Life is a balancing act. You can’t give 100% of yourself to every part of your life. I can’t, you can’t. Some days, certain areas of my life gets more focus than others. Not every day is going to be perfect and that’s ok. For me, it’s about finding the consistency within the inconsistency.
I am a very Type A personality. I’ve struggled a lot with perfectionism. I know I’m not perfect and I make mistakes, but yet there’s still this need inside of me to have it all together. The key is having grace with yourself. Easy to say, hard to do, because there’s a balance within that as well: don’t give yourself too much or else you won’t get anything done… but if you’re too hard on yourself (like I often am) you will over-think, over-analyze, and burn yourself out (which I’ve done as well). It’s all part of the ebbs and flows of life.
For me, I think when I can own that and take responsibility for it, then it becomes simpler, which isn’t always easier.
Every day my commitment to myself and my family is to do a little better than the day before and that’s really all I can ask of myself.
What does balance mean to you?
